And transformed it into this for Kara...
Kara wanted to refinish a chair for Jana and asked for my help. We found a chair on Craigslist for $10 and the plan was to paint and reupholster it (it had the ugliest blue fabric I have ever seen! And I'm pretty sure it was possessed) and we had a very small amount of time to accomplish this.
For the sake of not turning this into a book I'm gonna leave out most the details but here's the basic run down. The experience from the get-go should've clued us in that this was not gonna happen. It took us 4 hours to get the chair when it should've only taken us 20 minutes. But we pushed through. I sanded it, primed it, then painted it. The wood was having some serious PMS issues though and the wood kept bleeding thru. But after like 50 coats of paint it worked out. Then I moved on to the upholstery. I can't say for sure but I'm almost positive that whoever upholstered this bought out every store within a 20 mile radius that sold staples. They did NOT want this fabric coming off for nothing!! An hour and a half after I started trying to remove the fabric I was bleeding from three different fingers and from a gash in my hand. I was only half way through the bottom part of the chair. I was about to text Kara to tell her this wasn't gonna happen. But then for some reason, all the sudden I got a hair up my butt (I think it's called perseverance but I'm not sure. I've never experienced it before. I'm all about just letting it go if it turns out to actually be hard.). I went back to work and was able to get most of the fabric off the top part. And I still had all my major appendages attached! Other obstacles came along though and we realized we just weren't going to be able to make it work in time.
I kept the chair though because now I had sort of become attached. I also kept the old fabric to send to Homeland Security. I'm pretty sure this stuff could be used as body armor. Anyway, a couple of months later I came across some fabric I fell in love with and knew just what to use it for. So after 2 days of swearing like a sailor, getting off as much old fabric as I could, one day of scraping paint, 2 days of sanding, priming, painting, then 3 days of upholstering and more swearing like a sailor, I ended with this...
What do you think?

Jana, you would deny a dying man the use of that beautiful chair in his room for his wife to sit on as she nurses him along?! Just thought I'd pull the cancer card;).
